A historical project was to place an "El Camino Real" bell at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Centre City Parkway in downtown Escondido.   The plaque reads: FR. JEREMIAH MURPHY FOURTH DEGREE ASSEMBLY #2311 KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS DEDICATES THIS BELL IN THE YEAR 1999 IN COMMEMORATION OF THE TRAVELS OF FATHER JUNIPERO SERRA EARLY PIONEER AND SETTLER IN CALIFORNIA
